For An Instant

The water looks warm and inviting
Clear as crystal, smooth as glass
But in my youth, I am naive
The water is over my head and I cannot swim
The water flows around me and
As I struggle I can hear her laugh
She is greedy, and will not let go
The water covers me, and I cannot breathe
Panicking, I do the only thing I can
I take a deep breath
And for an instant, I know it all
Until my body falls slowly to the floor
And I know no more.
