Important
My sister and I had a fight, and to get back at me she erased the Pen and Ink Ring. I have
written Webring and they're going to see what they can do about getting it back. So for now, you cannot
submit sites to the queue because the ring doesn't exist.
Hi! My name is Cher and I'm the ringmistress of the Pen and Ink Ring.
This web-ring is designed as a means of linking those sites on the web that are related to
all aspects of reading and writing, poetry and stories. We always welcome new members.
If you have a website that deals with the wonderful world of
writing, and you update it on a regular basis, we want you!
Join the Queue
Follow these easy steps to add your site to the Pen and Ink Ring.
Please follow them closely to preserve the integrity of the Ring!
STEP 1: Read the rules before submitting your site to the queue.
STEP 2: Add your site to the Pen and Ink Ring queue. Your page will
be held for review before it is added to the Ring.
NOTE: This step does not automatically insert your site into the Ring.
STEP 3: You will receive your unique site ID number in your e-mail. Write this
down and try not to lose it. You will need your site ID number to make any
modifications, or to quit the Ring. If you do lose it, write to me and I will send it to you. You would not be the first person this happened to.
STEP 4: Save one of the following images to your server then copy the
HTML fragment. Place it and the image you saved on your homepage.
It's VERY IMPORTANT that the ring HTML code be on the URL page that you list for
the Ring. You may insert it wherever on that page you feel it is
appropriate. But it must be on that page. The purpose of the Ring is to
make navigating the web easier, not to force people to search through your pages
in order to continue along the Ring.
STEP 5: After pasting the HTML text on your page, change the owned by e-mail address and
name so that they are your own.
STEP 6: Replace THE IMAGE with the URL of the image that you saved.
STEP 7: Change the id number to your site id number. For example, if your site id
number is 33 and it says: a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ink&id=1&next"
change it so it says: a href="http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=ink&id=33&next"
Do this for all places where is says id=
STEP 8: Email me and ask me to add you to the Ring.
Be sure to include your Site ID Number in the email message.
NOTE: Please wait until after you have your HTML working before you write to me,
as I will have to verify that your Ring links are functioning before I add
you. Also note that you have only 7 days (10 days maximum) in which to do this or you will automatically be removed
from the queue and you will once again have to submit your site to the queue.
That's it! After checking out your page, I will take your Site ID Number and use it
to add you to the Ring. You should then receive an e-mail letting you know
you've been added. I will try to do it within 72 hours. NOTE: Please be aware, that I will conduct random
site tests, and if I discover that you have changed the HTML fragment in anyway, or it is no
longer on the page you specified, your site will be removed from the Ring and placed in the Queue.
You will either be added to the Ring again once the problem has been fixed, or after 10 days, you
will be automatically removed from the Queue and must resubmit your site.
And by the way, if you haven't already done so, now would be the perfect time to
promote your website by adding your URL to the directories of the various search
engines on the Internet.
Once again, a great big welcome to you! And spread the word about the
Pen and Ink Ring. The more people who know, the more visitors
our ringmember sites will have!
